State-of-the-art AI cameras at Guwahati Railway Station.

Railways' effort to prevent crimes through camera surveillance. Guwahati station under the watch of 134 AI cameras.

From now on, Guwahati Railway Station, the gateway to the Northeast, will be under the sharp surveillance of the Railway Department. Criminals will no longer be able to escape after committing crimes at Guwahati Railway Station, which had become a hotspot for criminal activities.

The Northeast Frontier Railway has adopted a new strategy to prevent crimes. Any miscreant attempting a crime within Guwahati Station will face certain trouble. This is because ultra-modern AI cameras have been installed at every nook and corner of the station, which can instantly detect any suspicious activity.

A total of 134 AI cameras have been installed at a cost of ₹1.3 crore. Among these, 108 are fixed cameras, 10 are PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) robotic cameras, 4 are facial recognition cameras, and 8 are dome cameras.

The entire Guwahati Railway Station will be under 24/7 sharp surveillance by these high-end AI cameras. The system will be operated from a central control room using advanced technology. Even if a criminal covers their face while entering the station, they will not be able to escape the AI surveillance.

Alongside the AI cameras, tampering alarms have also been installed at around 20 locations across Guwahati Railway Station. Victims can use these alarms for immediate assistance if targeted by a criminal. Once the alarm switch is pressed, a Railway Police team will arrive at the scene immediately to assist the victim, helping law enforcement swiftly apprehend the offender.

In conclusion, it remains to be seen how effective these AI cameras will be in curbing crimes at Guwahati Railway Station, which had turned into a safe haven for criminals.
